Is Al Gore's global warming scare political propaganda?
A surreal scientific blunder last week raised a huge question mark about the temperature records that underpin the worldwide alarm over global warming. On Monday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore's chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record. A sudden cold snap brought snow to London in October This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever". In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerised temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-sceptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running. So are scientists cooking the books and using bad data to justify their position? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2008/11/16/do1610.xml Chris I - Please explain to me why the Hubbard Glacier in Alaska is growing in spite of the global warming claims. http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/fs-001-03/

Should Al Gore's buddy at NASA be fired for lying to suppport global warming myth?

If the Dalai Lama was in power, would Tibet be better off?
Does reinstating the Dalai Lama's power in Tibet actually make its people's future brighter? What will happen to the poverty if he was? Isnt establishing a religious leader a step backward in this day and age? Was Tibet actually better off with him running things?

title of book I read in the early 80's-fiction set in Tibet-writer could have been same genre as Victoria Holt?
the book was fiction, a girl and "father" journeyed to Tibet and lived there for awhile then returned to England, I think. It was maybe a Gothic Novel, not romantice-more of a mystery. "father" named Simba or something like that. help! this is driving me crazy. I have already searched the Victoria Holt and Phillipa Carr titles, but no luck. I do know the book was in the same genre as them.

I have recently bought a very cool wolf tooth necklace and i love it the pits, but my mum keeps insisting "it MUST be fake" she keeps saying that it's made of plastic or something. Is there any way to tell for sure? The guy i bought it from has no idea :(

Why do so many seem to think Tibet needs defending but the Palestinians dont?
Both have occupying forces on their land. The Palestinians actually have a more peaceful history than Tibet. What gives? Archeological evidence says the Palestinians have *always" been there, some even connect them to the Canaanites.

How many of the people who attack Abrahamic faith for violence are ok with Buddhism?
The Japanese Buddhists, in general, supported the WWII war effort, even raising money for planes, etc. ("Zen at War" by Brian Daizen Victoria, a Soto Zen Master) Tibetan Buddhism has a bloody history. ("Tibet was a repressive theocracy based on serfdom" is even a line in the Lonely Planet travel guide to Tibet). My point here is not to attack Buddhism for what *some* Buddhists do/did. But why attack the other religions for what *some* of them do? I actually have reasons why there's a difference and Abrahamic religion is much worse, but I want to hear from others. I'm an atheist I didn't say they piloted the planes, I said they razed money for the war effort. My take is hat Buddhists who perpetrated these acts did so against the teachings of Buddha, while the Abrahamics are violent while still following their texts.
