I am just wondering how long it would take before a DVD drive is unable to read and burn DVD's and CD's Any ideas?

| I'm looking for 2 shows on dvd, but I don't know if they are out yet or not? Please Help Anyone? I'm looking for on dvd for my niece 'So Weird' and my nephew 'Recess' does anyone know if either of these tv series shows are out on dvd? Cause it's on their Christmas lists but I don't know if they are even out on dvd. They say 'Every tv show should be out on dvd auntie' but I don't know can anyone help me? I'm hoping they are out on dvd, but if they aren't then I can honestly tell them at Thanksgiving dinner that they are not. So anyone out there who can help me please? Ok im in college for architecture and im looking for a new laptop that meets these requirements from my school: Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800MHz FSB/3MB Cache) System Memory - 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM1 Hard Drive - 160GB SATA (7200 RPM) Video Card - 256MB Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT DVD+/-RW (DVD/CD read/write) Network Card - Integrated 10/100 Network Card & 802.11 b/g WLAN network Operating System - 32-bit version3 of Microsoft Windows™ XP Home Edition or Vista Home Premium I am looking at the sony vaio sr and the only difference is that it has a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40GHz) instead of Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800MHz FSB/3MB Cache). Whats the difference and which is better???? Oh and the graphic card in the Vaio is ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470 with HDMI™ Output instead of the 256MB Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT...
